But sometimes new technology can be hard to understand at first. Remember when we had to use a "DOS prompt" for our early computers, or "defrag" our phones? That's why we're here to help you decode some of the terms you'll hear this year. So let’s translate the geek-speak surrounding AI.

A chatbot is an app that mimics human conversation. ChatGPT is an example of a chatbot that you can try out.

Deep learning is a technique used to imitate the human brain by learning from data. AI tools are trained on real-world concepts and conversations to provide human-like responses.

Machine intelligence is the umbrella term for machine learning, deep learning, and conventional algorithms.

Natural Language Understanding (NLU) helps machines understand what we say, even if we make grammatical errors or speak with different accents.

Weak AI is the most common form of AI in use right now. It focuses on a single or small range of activities, like writing or repurposing video content. Strong AI aims to produce systems as intelligent and skilled as the human mind, but we're not quite there yet.
